Blairmore, Alberta

Originally a lonely Canadian Pacific Railway stop, Blairmore is now a thriving community. It is a good base for exploring the Pass. Blairmore’s streets are lined with period housing, and views of the mountains inspire many local photographers and artists.

Blairmore is a charming, evolving, wonderful town of about 6,500 people. Most people regard Blairmore as the main economic and commercial centre of the Crowsnest Pass. Take a look through Blairmore’s historic courthouse and visit the remains of the Leitch Collieries. This huge processing plant was a remarkable enterprise, churning out thousands of tons of coke daily. It stands as a testament to the early industry of the Pass, coal mining.
